We hope you’re all keeping well and getting plenty of gardening and DIY done while you have ample time to! I wanted to update you on the current situation, given the number of emails and messages we’ve received wondering when we’ll be back up and running.
Following on from Boris Johnson’s update last night, it’s looking likely (should the criteria be met as expected) that we’ll be able to start reopening from the 1st of June. There may be a slight alteration to our normal hours, so keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more information nearer the time.
This is obviously subject to Government guidance on whether it’s safe to do so, and we’ll be implementing some important social distancing improvements into the daily operations of the store.
Namely we’ll be asking people to observe the ‘one customer at a time’ rule that we trialed very briefly before the official lockdown came into effect in March. That means if there’s someone in the shop ahead of you, please wait outside at a suitable distance until they’ve left. We’ll also be installing acrylic screens to allow members of the public to approach the front desk for purchases and booking in of repair/service jobs while keeping us safe.
Steve should be returning to his normal callout routine 7 days after reopening, this will allow us to ease back in and implement the new measures correctly. He’ll be kitted out with good PPE for his (and your) protection. We’ll also be asking anyone wanting a home visit to keep a good 2m distance from him at all times while he’s there, and to please pay only by card once the visit is complete.
In the meantime, if you need to get in touch for more information or to see if there’s something we can help with when we re-open, please get in touch by Email or you can send us a WhatsApp message on 01543 263335.
Stay safe, and see you all soon!
